With profound respect and utmost sincerity, I warmly congratulate all veterans and dedicated workers of the healthcare sector on their professional holiday, which is celebrated annually on August 18, the birthday of the outstanding Tajik philosopher and great scholar Abu Ali ibn Sina.
This day provides each of us with a valuable opportunity to express our appreciation for the responsible, devoted, and compassionate work of physicians, nurses, emergency medical personnel, pharmacists, diagnosticians, and all employees of healthcare institutions.
The Tajik people have traditionally held medical science and physicians in high esteem. The name of the great son of the Tajik nation, Abu Ali ibn Sina, who made an immense contribution to the development of world medicine through his immortal scientific works, remains today a great school of professional excellence and moral values for every Tajik physician. The establishment in 2026 of the International Abu Ali ibn Sina Prize in the field of medicine is also evidence of the high esteem accorded to the scientific legacy of this great historical figure and his outstanding contribution to the advancement of medical science.
This year, independent Tajikistan is celebrating the 35th anniversary of its State Independence in an atmosphere of national pride and dignity. Thirty-five years of Independence represent 35 years of nation-building, peace and stability, creativity, development, and prosperity of our beloved country. Throughout this proud journey, the healthcare sector, as one of the important pillars of the state’s social policy, has also continuously developed, with effective measures being implemented to protect public health and ensure a достойный quality of life for the people. The contribution of physicians, nurses, and all healthcare workers, who serve the health of the nation through their noble profession and dedicated work, is invaluable to all these achievements.
Today, every achievement in the healthcare sector, every life saved, and every person who returns to a healthy life thanks to the efforts of medical professionals are evidence that Independence serves the individual and is aimed at ensuring a достойный quality of life. May the 35th anniversary of State Independence be a source of pride, renewed strength, and greater responsibility for every healthcare worker in the noble mission of protecting the health of the nation. For a healthy nation is the foundation of a stable state and a progressive society.

During the period of national independence, the healthcare sector, as one of the key areas of the state’s social policy, has remained at the center of attention. Strengthening the material and technical capacity of medical institutions, improving the quality and standards of medical services, training highly qualified specialists, and introducing modern methods of diagnosis and treatment are among the major priorities for the development of the sector.
Today, advances in science and technology, together with modern medical technologies, are creating new opportunities for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. At the same time, the quality of healthcare services largely depends on the knowledge, experience, sense of responsibility, and humane attitude of medical professionals themselves.
As the Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, stated during a meeting with healthcare workers of the country: “The healthcare sector is one of the priority areas of the social policy of the state of Tajikistan and has developed steadily over nearly the past three decades, achieving significant progress. During this period, the Government of the country has paid particular attention to the development of healthcare and social protection of the population and has implemented numerous measures to address the challenges of this vital sector.”
During the years of independence of our beloved country, through the initiatives and direct support of the Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, a number of important initiatives have been undertaken to honor and pay tribute to the unparalleled services of Sheikh al-Rais Abu Ali ibn Sina to the development of world medical science.
In Sughd Province, under the leadership and guidance of the Chairman of the province and First Deputy Chairman of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Rajab Ahmadzoda, effective measures have been undertaken to construct healthcare facilities, repair and renovate existing buildings, equip medical institutions with modern medical equipment, support healthcare workers, and address other important issues. As a result, the level and quality of medical services provided to the population are continuously improving.
In the city of Buston, healthcare workers also make a valuable contribution to protecting public health, preventing diseases, increasing citizens’ medical awareness, and promoting healthy lifestyles.
With the aim of further improving healthcare services for the population, the Republic of Tajikistan is currently implementing the Strategy for the Protection of Public Health of the Republic of Tajikistan for the Period up to 2030. The adoption and implementation of dozens of programs and other sectoral documents demonstrate the continuous attention of the country’s leadership and the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan to this vital area.
In this regard, we can confidently say that physicians in the city of Buston are today providing diagnosis and treatment at a high professional level, on a par with their colleagues abroad. This is demonstrated by the introduction of new methods of diagnosis and treatment in the city, services for which our residents previously had to travel to other cities or abroad.
It should be emphasized that today, in response to the policy pursued by the Government of the country, highly qualified physicians of Tajikistan, particularly those of the city of Buston, with a strong sense of responsibility and as true heirs of the great Avicenna, are making a valuable contribution to the development and advancement of the healthcare sector of our beloved country.
