SPORT AS A FACTOR OF A HEALTHY SOCIETY AND THE STRENGTHENING OF LEGAL AWARENESS — National Run and Cycling Marathon Held in Buston City

On May 17, 2026, in Buston City, on the eve of Youth Day of Tajikistan and within the framework of implementing the Decree of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan dated March 28, 2007, No. 225, according to which the third Sunday of May is annually celebrated nationwide as National Run Day, the National Run and Cycling Marathon were held with the participation of Buston City Chairperson Firuza Nurullozoda, heads of law enforcement agencies, leaders and employees of organizations and institutions, civil servants, representatives of law enforcement bodies, athletes, youth, and members of the public.

At the beginning of the event, Buston City Chairperson Firuza Nurullozoda congratulated the participants on the occasion of Youth Day of Tajikistan and emphasized that the youth-oriented policy of the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honourable Emomali Rahmon, is aimed at developing sports, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and strengthening the physical and moral potential of society. It was noted that sports serve as an important means of strengthening friendship, unity, patriotism, and boosting the spirit of young people.

More than 3,200 city residents actively participated in the mass National Run event, including over 1,100 women.

Participants of the National Run and Cycling Marathon started their route from the city roundabout near the State Unitary Enterprise “Water Supply and Sewerage Section” and continued along Foteh Niyozi Street to the “IGNES” Diagnostic and Treatment Center.

At the same time, within the framework of the event, officials of the Executive Body of State Authority of Buston City and advocacy groups conducted the information campaign “Human Trafficking is a Crime” among the population. During the campaign, informational leaflets were distributed to participants, and awareness-raising activities were carried out regarding the negative consequences of human trafficking, ways to prevent it, safe migration, and the protection of human rights and freedoms.

It was emphasized that combating human trafficking and increasing citizens’ legal awareness are among the important directions of state policy, and that a healthy society and educated youth can make a significant contribution to preventing such negative phenomena.

The event was held in an atmosphere of patriotism and mutual understanding, once again demonstrating the attention of the state and Government toward the development of sports, the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, and the protection of human values.
