In order to implement the Decree of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan declaring 2026 as the “Year of Expanding Beautification and Construction Works and Strengthening National Identity and Self-Awareness,” and within the framework of cultural and educational initiatives aimed at increasing public interest in reading, a book donation campaign entitled “Books — the Torch of Enlightenment and the Source of National Thinking” was held at the State Emblem Square of Buston City with the broad participation of students, book lovers, employees of organizations and institutions, and admirers of literature.
The Chairperson of Buston City, Firuza Nurullozoda, took part in the event and, during her conversation with representatives of the cultural and educational sectors, as well as young people and teenagers, emphasized that books are an important means of shaping spirituality, broadening worldview, and educating an enlightened generation. She noted that regular reading plays a significant role in strengthening national identity and self-awareness.
It was highlighted that the culture-oriented policy of the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honourable Emomali Rahmon, has created favorable conditions for the development of a reading culture and for raising the educational level of society.
As part of the campaign, on behalf of Buston City Chairperson Firuza Nurullozoda, 100 copies of fiction books were donated to the city library. This initiative was warmly welcomed by participants as a worthy contribution to promoting books and reading and enriching library collections.
At the same time, participants of the event also donated books to the Central Library of Buston City, shared their thoughts on the importance of books in shaping public awareness, and emphasized the significance of such initiatives in educating a knowledgeable and culture-loving generation.
